Hello everyone!!

Nice to see big smiles and excitement on an aviation related forum for once!!

My name is David, i am a graduate from Salford university currently living in the midlands. I have attended an open day at Oxford but never the assessment day. Im excited and nervous but from what I hear on this forum it is actually quite enjoyable. Two nights off work is also a bonus!

I am due to attend on the 3rd and hopefully the 4th of August. Looking forward to meeting anyone who is attending on those dates.

Good Luck!

David :D

Hey guys!

My name is Robert Jurca and I have been living in the UK for six years now. I am working as quality engineer (designing Connecting rods). This will be my first skills assessment and to be honest I will enjoy it - so or so it is going to be a Good experience. I started with RC planes when I was 6 and now I am digging my way through the PPL- having the test next month.
Maybe it is because I grow with propeller RC planes, maybe for something else but turboprops are my favourites. One of them is landing in Southend (EGMC) every Saturday at about 13.20 BST so if you are local- it’s a great view!

Good luck to all of you!

Hi Everyone,

My name is Ian Watson, I'm 21 and I am attending on the 4th of August, hopefully the 5th too! At the moment I live and work in the Cambridge area.

Currently I work as a salesman for Volkswagen, scraping the pennies together to stick some hours on my PPL I started this year at Andrewsfield (EGSL). Not got a lot, but its re-enforced the real buzz I get for flying, without a doubt what I will end up doing one day. Also flying RC planes since the age of 12, so nice to see a fellow RC pilot here too, Robert!

Really looking forward to meeting people on the day and hopefully in the future. Good luck to everyone who has applied!

Hi everyone!

My name's Anna, I'm 23 and a graduate from the University of Leicester. I hail from Sherborne, a small town in North Dorset, but I'm currently living in Canada. I'll be back in the UK in time for my assessment days on the 9th and 10th August.

I'm fairly excited - especially after reading this forum it seems as though everyone has a good time at the assessment days. Congratulations to those of you who have been through them already, and good luck to everyone else!

Look forward to actually meeting some of you soon!

It might be easier to start a new topic in the parent folder for each Day 1 date than to try and keep them all in this one thread.

Hi, My name is Ash, currently living on the south coast in the New Forest (near Bournemouth). I have already completed my assessment back in April, but will hopefully (fingers crossed) meet some of you at either stage 3, or some point on a First Officer course. Best of luck to you all!

Hi Everyone!

My name is Alex and I have been invited for the assessment on the 10th/11th.

Just a brief background of myself, I live in Horsham (just down the road from Gatwick Airport) and graduated from Loughborough University last year with a Masters in Aero Engineering. Have done some flying recently, and last summer completed my first solo which was certainly an experience to remember.

Assessment days are rapidly approaching, but despite the growing nerves I strongly expect it will be an enjoyable experience and looking forward to meeting people on the 10th of next month.

Good luck with the preparations!

My name is Peter Gleeson. I have just paid for my MPL assessment so I am now committed to attend Aug 2nd. Good to read the comments about it being fun, although a serious competition requiring some teamwork. I recently graduated from Leeds Met, Carnegie campus. I have work for the summer as baggage loader for a local airline in Guernsey where I live. Moving form the cargo bay to the front end must be the way to go. It certainly is a challenge to relish as I watch the Q400 and ATR 72’s landing in “gale force fog” , and sometimes with an acute cross wind up to and above 25 knots. Look forward to meeting some of you and good luck all.

Hey everyone, great to hear from you all.

Just to introduce myself, my name is Alasdair and I am from small island in the north west of Scotland called Harris. Though I have been living out in the middle East for the last 8 months where I am working as cabin crew for Qatar Airways which is a lot of fun. Flying with an airline around the world is a great experience, though after getting my PPL over the summer my only ambition now is to work towards becoming a airline pilot.

I shall be in Oxford on the 2nd/3rd of August and this is my first time I have gone through OAA's application.

I look forward to seeing those who will be there.

All the very best!

Hi guys.

It was great to meet some of you during the assessment days. Just want to wish everyone the best of luck, and hopefully (fingers crossed!!) I will meet some of you again, and some new faces at stage 3! (fingers still crossed ha)

Of course some of us will not make it to stage 3, if that happens, we just need to remember not to give up! The standard is set extremely high, and even if we don't get through, I'm sure every one of us would make fine pilots all the same!

Regards,
Andy
